1913 Buffalo Nickel. Type 1. PCGS graded Proof 64 Premium Quality. A scarce example of this short term type coin in Proof. Just 1,520 were struck, and few are as well preserved as this one. Note the curious texture in the fields and on the devices, which is especially strong on this coin. Nice luster and color, and no signs of toning or age. Clean surfaces for the grade, and satisfying in every way.

1913 Buffalo Nickel. Type 1. Matte Proof 64. Gleaming mint surface on both sides and boldly impressed by the dies. Clearly, these early proofs were very well made when compared with general business strikes. Take a look and see, but be prepared for a surprise how nice these look when fully struck.

1918-D Buffalo Nickel. 8 over 7. PCGS graded EF-45. Toned with golden hues on the obverse, a bit streaky on the reverse. We note some very faint scratches on the back of the bison and in the field above. The overdate feature is strong and can easily be seen with a glass. One of the most popular and difficult to locate buffalo nickels, especially this nice.

1918/7-D Buffalo Nickel. PCGS graded EF-40. A rare date in high grade, most of these are found in lower circulated grades than offered here. Note the nearly full horn on the bison, and the natural appearing color on both sides.This coin looks like it was just plucked from a roll, or a hoard of nickels, and the overdate feature discovered. Minor handling marks, mostly on the outer front leg of the bison. The overdate feature is plain, with a broad and flat top on the 8. PCGS notes about 100 have been graded this high or better.

1924-D Buffalo Nickel. PCGS graded MS-64. Another well struck example of an early mintmarked buffalo. Steel gray with more luster than others, and slight doubling is noted on the date. The only signs of weakness are at the top of the reverse legend. On the tail, we see a bit of a split, and the head is well formed but not as crisp as seen on later issues, but decent nonetheless.

Tawny gold toning on the obverse and reverse, with satiny luster in the fields. Don't expect to find a better one, this is about as nice as these ever are found. An important coin for the specialist.
